18 vie at fair for Miss McHenry County

July 30 was an exciting night for 18 young Mchenry County women, as they vied for the title of Miss McHenry County.

Exciting, yet nerve-wracking, one would imagine. The prospect of walking across a stage, in front of a large crowd, dressed in nothing but a swimsuit and high heels must be intimidating, even for those age 20 and younger.

The pageant is a longstanding tradition of the McHenry County Fair.

This year's winner was Carly Dikun of Harvard, but we thought we'd share at some behind-the-scenes moments our photographer captured at the pageant.
