Naperville hotel damaged by fire
Firefighters were called to the Marriott Courtyard Suite in Naperville late Friday after a fire broke out in a first-floor hotel room.
No one was injured in the fire, which apparently started in the air-conditioning unit just before 10 p.m., and when crews arrived, hotel staff were extinguishing the fire with a garden hose and a fire extinguisher, according to a news release from the Naperville Fire Department.
The fire was put out and the damage to the hotel, at 1155 E. Diehl Road, was initially estimated at $7,500.
Jason Franks, a front desk employee at the hotel, said no one was in the room when it caught but that the whole building was briefly evacuated. He said the damage was limited to the single room.
