Family files lawsuit in crane collapse death
The family of a 33-year-old man killed last week in a crane collapse at a construction site in Normal has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against a contracting company.
Joshua Dawe of Topeka died July 23rd when the crane collapsed onto the aerial lift in which he worked.
The lawsuit, filed on behalf of Dawe's infant daughter, seeks more than $50,000 in damages.
His family filed the lawsuit against Johnston Contractors, which was responsible for inspecting and coordinating work at the site.
The company says in court documents that it didn't own, operate or maintain the crane or aerial lift.
A case management conference in the lawsuit was scheduled for November.
