Chicago Botanic Garden

• Family Sundays at the Malott Japanese Garden features hands-on Japanese arts and culture activities from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Scheduled dates are today, Sept. 7, 21 and Oct. 5.

• The Bromeliad Society of Greater Chicago Show and Sale is 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today.

• The Carillon Concert Series continues 7 p.m. Mondays through Aug. 25.

• Tafaneyi (David) Gweshe of Zimbabwe and the Boterekwa Dance Troupe perform 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday as part of the Hot Summer Nights programming.

• A workshop on summer bulbs is from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Cost is $74. Call (847) 835-8261 to register.

• A Kite Festival with stunt kite fliers by the Chicago Fire Kite Team and the Kite Society of Wisconsin & Illinois from 11 a.m. 5 p.m. Saturday and Aug. 10.

• The Gardeners of the North Shore Show with more than 500 entries of anything a home gardener can grow is from noon to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 10.
