Route 120 bridge done:

The Route 120 bridge over the Tri-State Tollway has reopened on schedule, with two through lanes of traffic in each direction. Lane reductions had been in place since August 2007, when work began to rebuild and lengthen the bridge to accommodate the widening of the tollway. The project is part of ongoing work to rebuild and widen a 45-mile tollway corridor in Cook and Lake counties, scheduled to be complete in 2010. The new Route 120 bridge consists of two independent structures, featuring two through lanes on the eastbound section and two through lanes and an auxiliary lane on the westbound portion. Work was coordinated with officials from the Illinois Department of Transportation, Lake County, Gurnee and Waukegan to minimize the impact on local roads

Car wash fundraiser:

Traci Hamilton and her son, Justin Goodof, will host a car wash fundraiser Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Round Lake Heights Village Hall, 619 W. Pontiac Court. Equipped with bottles of soap, towels, hoses and high spirits, they're inviting people to come out and get a clean car for $5. All proceeds will benefit Ovation for the Cure, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ovarian cancer research, education, treatment options, awareness and support. The event was inspired by Hamilton's mother, who has been battling ovarian cancer for the past four years. Organizers hope to raise money for research. People who get their car washed can also buy raffle tickets for $1. Raffle prizes include Walmart, McDonalds, Buffalo Wild Wings gift cards, car wash equipment and more.
