Hoffman Estates unveils new Web site
Visitors to the Hoffman Estates village Web site, don't fret. Your eyes aren't deceiving you.
The village has unveiled a new look for hoffmanestates.com. The official launch is Friday, as the tech team still ironing out broken links and other bugs.
"The new Web site doesn't add any new information, it just organizes the information in a different way," said Doug Schultz, community relations coordinator.
The village does plan to offer residents online bill payment options next year through the new site.
The home page now shuffles through a series of photos below new navigational tabs. There's also an online survey about the redesign village officials are urging page visitors to take.
Schultz is in charge of the village newsletter, "The Citizen," and said the new Web design reflects the newsletter's recent facelift.
"We want to try to get as much information out as possible," Mayor William McLeod said. "Hopefully we did that."
He added that residents interested in securing permits or who have questions about village ordinances will be better served by the new site. He credited Schultz with keeping the site updated more frequently.
Back in November, the board first approved a payment of $44,790 to Vision Internet for the redesign. At the time, officials said the new site would allow residents to click on a village board agenda item after a meeting and then view video of the board discussing that particular item.
McLeod said that capability should be availability after village hall renovations are complete.
Vision Internet, based in Santa Monica, Calif., counts United Airlines and the village of Lisle as clients.
