Bartlett man charged in drug-related death

Hanover Park police have arrested a Bartlett man in connection to the death of a 27-year-old Elgin resident whose body was found in a fast-food restaurant's parking lot in April.

Brad J. Jurek, of 111 Oakwood Lane, was arrested Wednesday and charged with drug-induced homicide, police said. His bond was set at $750,000 Thursday.

Jurek is charged in connection with the death of Brian Denofrio. His body was found April 16 outside the restaurant on the 7400 block of Barrington Road. Hanover Park police did not provide further details on the nature of Jurek's alleged connection to Denofrio's death.

Illinois was the first state to charge suspects with drug-induced homicide, starting in 2002. The charge aims to punish those who deliver drugs that contribute to another person's death. If convicted, Jurek could face 15 to 30 years in prison.
