3 in Elgin arrested on drug charges
Three people were arrested on drug charges early Thursday morning as Elgin police executed two search warrants simultaneously on the city's near west side.
Elgin officers entered a Chicago Street apartment at 12:08 a.m. Thursday and found 263 grams, or 9.4 ounces, of marijuana and a digital scale, police said.
Kentral T. Booker, 24, of 1108 Sandpiper Court, Bartlett and Brigette L. Ford, 30, of 500 W. Chicago St. #2, Elgin were each charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession of marijuana, police said.
Ford also was charged with possession of a controlled substance when 0.8 grams of rock cocaine was found in a purse, police said.
Booker told officers he might have touched the scale in the past, but didn't know how the marijuana got there, police said.
Other Elgin officers at 12:13 a.m. entered an apartment on South Crystal Street, police said.
Brianne N. Bratcher, 21, of 88 S. Crystal St. #2, Elgin, was charged with possession of a controlled substance after 1.2 grams of cocaine was was found, police said. Bratcher told police she owned the purse, but couldn't account for how the cocaine got inside, police said.
Bratcher posted $1,500 bond and was given an Aug. 12 court date at the Kane County Judicial Center.
Ford and Booker were unable to post $10,000 and $5,000 bonds and were held to the Kane County jail.
Their next court dates are on Aug. 12 for Ford and Aug. 13 for Booker, both at the Kane County Judicial Center.
