Confront dog-walkers at your own risk

Letter writer Karen Sholder recommended a citizen should "Educate dog owners when they see them breaking the law because they are ignorant." Karen Sholder must be naive if she believes any person should perform the duties of the police department.

Buffalo Grove like other villages have laws about dogs and dog owners' responsibilities. In the past 20 years police officers have suggested homeowners should contact them when there is a dog problem. They urge you not to get involved in a confrontation situation. Especially with a minor walking a dog.

In our current society it is not wise to confront inconsiderate individuals unless you are prepared to go to court.

In addition the writer should know feces from all animals causes disease.
