WBBM morning anchor quits

Morning anchor Pat Cassidy is leaving all-news WBBM 780-AM, reportedly to jump to all-talk WLS 890-AM.

Cassidy had been with WBBM-AM since 2000 after working 25 years at now-defunct WMAQ 670-AM. In spring Arbitron ratings released last week, he and co-host Felicia Middlebrooks were second in the market in morning drive, behind only WGN 720-AM.

When Cassidy's current deal expired, he informed executives Wednesday that he was leaving the station. Sources confirm his new destination is WLS-AM, although it's unclear in what position. The station has reportedly been considering a change in morning drive with the contract of Don Wade & Roma up this fall. Mike North has acknowledged the station has expressed interest in him, and Mancow Muller has also been named as a possibility to join the station.

WLS General Manager Mike Fowler did not return a phone call seeking comment.
