Benefit for Corey Diamond fund
An event for the Corey Diamond Memorial Fund takes place 6:30 to 11 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Arlington Bowling Lanes, 3435 N. Kennicott Ave., Arlington Heights.
The event includes dinner, dessert, bowling, Baggo, games, raffles and prizes. Registration forms can be found at coreydiamondmemorialfund.org or at the event.
The fund was created in memory of Diamond, who was killed July 23, 2006, when he was a passenger in a car that was hit by a U-Haul truck that ran a red light while being pursued by police. Diamond was 16 and had just completed his sophomore year at Buffalo Grove High School.
Proceeds from the event will provide funding for local music, art and community service programs. Just last week, the driver of the U-Haul, Ralph Lewis, was convicted of first-degree murder in the crash.
