Bulls' Gordon dealing with contract uncertainty

Monday was a fairly typical summer day for Bulls guard Ben Gordon:

Work out, update media on contract talks, teach kids at summer basketball camp, try to forget about contract talks.

"Obviously, it's dragging a lot longer than I would've liked, but it is what it is. I've just got to deal with it," Gordon said before working with kids at his camp at the Bulls/Sox Training Academy in Lisle.

"Honestly, I don't know. It's kind of unpredictable right now. The team is going to pretty much determine what happens from here."

Gordon said there have been talks with other NBA teams about a sign-and-trade scenario, but he doesn't expect anything to happen soon.

"I really don't know what their plan is - if they want to keep all these guards we have now or if they plan on moving guys. In an ideal world I'd like to come back and be a part of this team and do what I've been doing in the past here. But I realize with the amount of guards we have, anything is possible."

Gordon won't set any artificial deadlines to get a new deal done. A restricted free agent, he could sign a one-year tender offer from the Bulls and then become an unrestricted free agent next summer.

Born in England, Gordon doesn't rule out following Josh Childress' lead and signing with an overseas club.

"Definitely, it's a possibility with the Euro being so strong. Josh did it. It just depends on what the individual wants or what he can put up with. I'm from London, so it's definitely something that seems like it would be interesting. But ideally I'd like to be here playing in the States for the team that drafted me."

Teammate Luol Deng is in the same situation as Gordon.

"We've been talking every once in a while just to see how each other is doing and how we're both dealing with the situation," Gordon said. "This is very familiar to both of us."
