Liberal favoritism in the news media

There will always be some Democrats who continue to deny that the mainstream media bias tilts heavily in their favor, despite daily examples. However, I was not surprised to hear of the latest examples of blatant liberal favoritism from major American news outlets, if you can even still call them news outlets.

First, ABC, NBC and CBS sent their anchors overseas on the "Obamapalooza" Middle East rock star tour to cover his every move. McCain has been there multiple times and has never received much coverage.

Second, The New York Times published Obama's op-ed about Iraq, but refused to publish McCain's countering op-ed on Iraq. The Times tried to defend itself by stating that they have run seven previous McCain op-eds since 1996. Something tells me that those seven articles were ones that fit their liberal agenda as McCain has often reached across the aisle to appease Democrats. But this recent McCain article didn't fit their slanted ideology. The Times editor who rejected McCain's submission, David Shipley, worked for the Clinton administration in the 1990s, but I'm sure that's irrelevant too.

It's ironic how The New York Times once praised and endorsed McCain, the most liberal Republican, until he secured the Republican nomination, of course. Maybe the Democrats are right about bringing back the Fairness Doctrine. They want it enacted to curb the success and popularity of conservative talk radio shows. But wouldn't that also dictate that the slanted mainstream media be forced to show both sides of a story for a change?

Most observant Americans know this bias exists and has had enough; notice The New York Times slumping circulation. But also notice how many liberals reading this resort to attacking anyone who mentions the obvious bias in defense of their media allies.
