Applications for St. Charles Noon Kiwanis Club financial grants are available to organizations that serve children. The grants are tailored to nonprofit groups that provide an "unduplicated" service in the Tri-Cities area. The application deadline is Aug. 15. Donate to Rover Rescue
Rover Rescue in Aurora is soliciting donations for its annual garage sale fundraiser to provide care for dogs rescued from high-kill shelters. Needed items include kitchenware, baby furniture, tools, small appliances, toys and books. Large appliances and pieces of furniture will not be accepted. Getting used to baby
A two-day workshop, Bringing Baby Home, for expecting and parenting couples based on John Gottman's transition-to-parenthood research meets from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Aug. 9 at Provena Mercy Medical Center in Aurora. With activities, videos and lecture, couples learn how to successfully navigate the normal stressors of a new baby and to build an emotionally strong and healthy family. The cost is $150 per couple. Big Truck Show coming
The St. Charles Park District's third annual Big Truck Show will be from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 9 at Langum Park, south of East Main Street between Riverside and Seventh avenues. Geared toward children, the show includes garbage trucks, front-end loaders, tractors, police cars, fire trucks and more. St. Charles logo contest
The St. Charles 175th Anniversary Committee is accepting entries for a logo design contest to celebrate the city's 175th birthday. The winning design will be used in publications and advertisements for related events. The contest is open to graphic designers, marketing professionals and print professionals from St. Charles. Vendors sought for Celetastity
The Fox Valley Park District and the Greater Aurora Area Chamber of Commerce are accepting applications from food vendors for Celetastity, which will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Aug. 30, at Blackberry Farm, 100 S.
