Launch campaign to end energy crisis

In 1964 President Kennedy set a goal for the U.S. to put a man on the moon by the end of the decade and that was accomplished on July 20, 1969. This enormous and admirable goal involved about $1.5 billion in today's dollars, about 20,000 companies and about 400,000 people.

With the oil crisis potentially affecting everything we do and use, we need again a massive program to find alternative energy sources and new ways of providing cheap and plentiful fuels for transportation. The massive outflow of U.S. capital to foreign countries to provide us with oil will only lead to our destruction as a nation.

America has the brain power and material resources to attain energy independence and to save the world from economic disaster due to lack of energy resources provided we start a national effort toward energy independence as we did successfully with the space program as soon as possible.
