Fifth Third Bancorp named 18-year company veteran Brian T. Mauntel head of business banking. Mauntel most recently served as senior vice president and head of business banking for Fifth Third's Chicago affiliate.

Dr. John N. Blair, a board certified pediatrician who has practiced at Dreyer Medical Clinic since 1975, was named recipient of the 2007 Dr. John W. Dreyer Award of Excellence. Blair sees patients in Batavia, Plainfield and West Aurora with Attention Deficit Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder and learning and behavioral problems.

The Chicago State University board of trustees appointed Dr. Frank G. Pogue as interim president of the 2008-09 academic year.

Former Schaumburg Flyer left handed pitcher, R. J. Swindle was called up to the Philadelphia Phillies. Swindle joins the team from Phillies Triple-A affiliate Lehigh Valley, where he went 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA in 18 games.

Dr. Vinita Mathew has joined the staff at Warrenville-based OAD Orthopaedics. Mathew specializes in the evaluation and nonsurgical management of disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Her areas of expertise include occupational medicine, sports injuries, spine care and pain management.

Stewart L. Cohen resigned his position as executive vice president at the Hilco Organization, Northbrook, to become a consultant to the company.

Lauren K. Henderson has accepted the position of account coordinator with Fishman Public Relations Company, Deerfield. Henderson recently graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism.

Barbara D. Oilschlager of Grayslake, was honored with the Illinois Association for Career and Technical Education's Arc of Fame Award. Oilschlager is director of system services for the Lake County Area Vocational system, were she is responsible for administering the career and technical education programs for all the high schools in Lake County.
