Praise for Pace, and also some advice

I want to thank Pace for the improvements they have made in their bus service recently, especially on Routes 715 and 747.

Now, Pace needs to work on making sure their bus stops are in safe, easy to reach locations so that all riders and potential riders can identify and access them. Take, for example, the Pace bus stop at Yorktown Center in Lombard, a major shopping area. It is located north of J.C. Penney, out in the middle of a parking lot next to a grassy island.

How is anyone supposed to find it there? I am blind and there is no way for me to find this bus stop independently unless, by chance, I can hear a bus waiting there.

The bus stop at Yorktown should be right alongside the curb outside the north entrance of Penney's where it used to be some time ago.

I urge Pace to evaluate all bus stops, particularly major ones like Yorktown Center, and make sure they are easy for all riders, including those with disabilities, to reach.

If the problem at Yorktown and other major shopping areas is mall or shopping center management, then shame on that management because by not allowing public transit vehicles to enter their property, they are discriminating against people who use public transportation. If they provide a parking lot for automobiles, then they must be required to allow access for public transit vehicles, period. Oak Brook Center does, why not others?

Again, thank you Pace for providing improved bus service.

Now, make sure your stops are located where we all who want to ride the buses can easily and safely reach them.
