Settlement for family of teen hit by bus
An attorney says the family of a teenager who died after being hit by a school bus has settled a lawsuit against a Chicago bus company for $1.75 million.
Sixteen-year-old Oneal Richardson was on his way to school in January 2005 when he was struck while crossing a street against the light. He died of his injuries two days later without regaining consciousness.
Daniel Kirschner is the family's attorney. He says the school bus driver didn't see Richardson even though the boy was over 6 feet tall and more than 200 pounds.
Phone messages left for Duo Right Bus Company's management and for two attorneys representing the company were not immediately returned.
The teenager is survived by his parents and four siblings.
