Motorcyclist injured on Tri-State ramp

A motorcyclist was injured turning onto the Tri-State Tollway from Route 120 in Gurnee, Lake County Sheriff officials said.

Officials said the unnamed, 35-year-old rider was slowing his Harley-Davidson eastbound on Route 120 and getting ready to turn onto I-94 when he noticed the traffic was stopping faster than expected about 7:30 a.m., said Sgt. Christopher Thompson of the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

The rider tried to skid to a stop before laying the motorcycle down on the pavement and dragging his knee across the pavement until he stopped.

The motorcycle driver -- who was wearing a helmet -- was taken to Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan with non-life-threatening injuries.

Thompson added no citations were issued in the accident.
