Cubs, Rockies win Naperville Little League championships
Naperville Little League now has two championship teams.
In the "Major" League championship game, the Cubs defeated the Giants 10-0. Both teams play in the Continental League.
It was hardly a blowout though. The game was 1-0 heading into the final inning of the Saturday evening contest at Knoch Park. Key hits by Zach Nylen in the 5th and 6th innings and a long double by Eddie Lieser in the 6th keyed the Cub offensive attack.
Brendon and Luke Daley each pitched three innings in leading the Cubs to victory. Stellar pitching efforts for the Giants came from Thomas Potter, Pat Hendrickson and Kurt Krejci.
The Cubs are managed by Dan Kenealy, while the Giants are led by Mike Krejci.
In the "A" League championship game, the Rockies beat the Cardinals 11-0 for the championship. This was the third meeting between the two Republic League teams, with the Rockies getting the win each time. Brendan Bell, Griffin Hecht, Zach Morris, Andrew Heitzman and Kevin Young contributed solid pitching and hitting to key the Rockies' victory.
The Rockies are managed by Dan Bell, and the Cardinals skipper is Frank Giglio.
