Man falls to death from balcony

Authorities say a man from the Roscoe Village neighborhood on Chicago's North Side has died after accidentally falling from the balcony of his building.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office ruled the death of 26-year-old Matthew Fergus accidental, saying he suffered multiple injuries in the fall.

Fergus was pronounced dead early Sunday morning at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

Chicago Police Captain Mike Ryan said officers were dispatched to Fergus' home late Saturday night, and discovered that he had fallen from a second- or third-floor balcony and landed on his head. Ryan said the condition of the balcony had nothing to do with the fall.
