Downstate man fatally shot at Elks Club

Danville Police say they are looking for a local man who shot and killed another Danville resident during a quarrel in the parking lot of an Elks Club lodge.

Danville Public Safety Director Larry Thomason said in a statement that police were pursuing a suspect in the fatal shooting early Sunday morning of 23-year-old Zellner Douglas Brown.

Thomason says police also seeking witnesses to the shooting, which is believed to have been seen by a number of people.

Thomason also says the shooting appears to have had nothing to do with the Elks Club.

Vermilion County Coroner Peggy Johnson says an autopsy was Monday on Brown's body.

Brown's death was the second homicide of the year in Danville.
