Vicious vandalism hurts single moms
An article on the front page of the July 9 Daily Herald told of how a Corvette that someone had worked on for over 18 years was destroyed by fireworks that landed unintentionally inside his car. The owner stated that he believed this was done unintentionally, but at the same time he said he felt very frustrated by those who think they're just having fun around the holiday but don't realize the consequences to some of their actions.
Another incident that happened on that same night was that five cars that were in a church parking lot were also destroyed, but probably not unintentionally. Concrete blocks had been thrown through all five car windows, shattering glass over everything. Fireworks were also found on one the dashboards.
As with the Corvette, some people were having fun at the expense of many others. In this case, the people that will suffer are single moms because these cars were part of a ministry at Medinah Baptist Church where volunteers work to restore donated vehicles so that they can then give them free of charge to those who cannot afford to buy their own.
Again it is unfortunate that some people's "fun" does not take into account how their actions affect others.
