The return of Brett Favre to the NFL
Regarding Brett Favre's return to pro football, this is totally a prime example of greed and the money game in Pro Sports today.
I can go back to the 1950s and '60s when a player making $25.000 or 30,000 a year retired, he was retired - probably getting into P.R. work for the team he played for or doing some other related work.
Now we have these already overpaid athletes hanging on for the big bucks even being well past their prime.
One has to understand why ticket prices are so high. The average middle-class family can't afford them.
Granted, Favre did have a decent year in '07, but look at his previous two or three years. They showed a downhill player, making many mistakes, who seemed to be hanging on for the almighty buck!
My guess is, Favre made about $10 million last year, without incentives. And he realizes his big-time attraction will soon come to its end.
So Brett, just please retire in grace after the good season you had last year instead of in hanging on for the almighty buck.
Yeah. We know. It's for the love of the sport.
No, Brett, I don't believe you. Sorry.
