Out of Iraq and into Afghanistan

The Pentagon has released information that they are considering accelerating troop withdrawals from Iraq.

McCain and Bush, of course, present this as a very positive event in that their policies in Iraq have been so successful.

On the other hand, the commanders in Afghanistan are screaming that they need more troops because the hostilities in that country are quickly getting out of hand.

The rest of NATO has pretty much told the U.S. to forget about them increasing their troops. It seems that the Coalition of the Willing has become downright unwilling.

One must really think about where the increase in troops in Afghanistan will come from.

Surely they wouldn't rotate the Iraq withdrawals to Afghanistan? Or would they?

Remember the 3,000 Marines recently sent to southern Afghanistan? Any thoughts about where they came from?

Bush's goal is to eliminate the legitimate complaint that our service people are serving multiple and extended combat tours in Iraq.

To replace the multiple tours in Iraq with multiple tours in Afghanistan is just another hair-brained solution by our current resident geniuses' in the White House and Pentagon.

Bush's solution to the pain resulting from hitting one's thumb with a hammer is to hit it again when the numbness wears off since it seemed to work so well the first time.

It is truly a classical Bushism to shovel out a cow pasture into a pig pen and call it progress.
