Immigrant O'Hare workers sue staffing company

A group of immigrant workers has filed a lawsuit claiming they were exploited by a staffing firm and several companies that employ temporary workers at O'Hare International Airport.

The lawsuit was filed Thursday in Cook County.

It alleges airlines and other companies used Ideal Staffing to hire laborers owed thousands of hours of unpaid wages.

Attorney Jed Untereker says the companies aren't taking responsibility for their workers.

Several of the immigrants filing suit were arrested in a raid at O'Hare last year, which rounded up workers who allegedly used fake work documents.

Untereker says the lawsuit is separate from the federal criminal investigation.

He says immigration status isn't relevant to labor law.

A telephone number for Ideal Staffing has been disconnected.
