West Dundee blood drive

Help West Dundee reach its goal of collecting 50 pints of blood during its blood drive from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Public Safety Center II, 100 Carrington Drive. Free open gyms all summer

The Elgin Police Department school liaison program sponsors a free open gym program for kids 8 to 16 through Aug. 8. Kids can play basketball, kickball, soccer, floor hockey, swimming or do arts and crafts at U-46 schools from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Speakers will give presentations on baking, bicycle safety, gang awareness and prevention, life skills and drug and alcohol awareness.
