Thanks for support of special recreation

Recently the Western DuPage Special Recreation Association (WDSRA) Foundation held its 14th Annual Women's Golf Outing. The combination of beautiful weather, awesome "celebrity" caddies, wonderful volunteers, generous sponsors, and of course, the many women who came out for golf and fun made for a great day. I want to thank everyone who helped make it a perfect outing.

Sponsors at all levels made this outing possible. Comcast and Old Town Bank and Trust were our event sponsors and came out to support the event. It would be impossible to name all of our sponsors but I want to thank everyone who supported us through sponsorships and raffle donations. Your support means the world to us. Every bit counts and makes a difference.

I wanted to especially recognize Belgio's Catering for donating delicious dinners for over 10 years. I also want to thank the many volunteers who worked hard all day to make this outing run smoothly, including six high school students who helped from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. We also had many wonderful "celebrity" caddies who not only gave up their day to cater to our golfers but also brought awesome gifts for their ladies. To go along with our theme "Pirates on the Fairways", we had a celebrity impersonator, Capt. Jack Sparrow. He too was terrific.

And finally, to the golfers, many of whom got into the theme by dressing up, we are thrilled that you had such a great time. All the proceeds from the golf outing will go toward keeping WDSRA programs affordable. WDSRA offers a wide variety of programs, trips and special events to children and adults with special needs. WDRSA is a not-for-profit organization and a cooperative extension of nine park districts including Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Glen Ellyn, Naperville, Roselle, Warrenville, West Chicago, Wheaton and Winfield. Thank you!
