Wheeling man pleads guilty to robbing Arby's, gets boot camp

Like his two co-defendants involved in the March robbery of a Wheeling Arby's, Wheeling resident James Cantrell pleaded guilty this week to aggravated robbery. Also like them, he was sentenced by Cook County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Fecarotta to boot camp.

According to prosecutors, the 20-year-old Cantrell had "full knowledge of the crime" when he drove the getaway car for Jesus Arcos and Anthony Stevenson, both also of Wheeling. The two used BB guns in the holdup, a fact Fecarotta alluded to in the sentencing.

"That was really stupid. You know that," said the judge, as he pronounced the sentence, adding that had the guns been more serious firearms, Cantrell might be facing a much more serious charge.

Cantrell could have received from four to 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
