German shepherd club plans Correctional Clinic
The German Shepherd Dog Training Club of Chicago will hold the next Correctional Clinic on July 25 at 4925 County Farm Road, Hanover Park. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and judging starts at 7 p.m. Pre-entry fee is $5 per dog plus $3 for an additional entry of the same dog. Entries must reach Teri Childers, 894 Somerset Drive, Carol Stream, IL 60188 with fees made payable to the club by Wednesday prior to the Correctional. E-mail and gate entry fees are $6 plus $4 for the additional entry of same dog.
Entry Deadlines: Elgin Kennel Club has set Aug. 6 as deadline to enter the club's two days of conformation shows and obedience and rally trials. They are being held back to back on Aug. 23 and 24 at Kane County Fairgrounds' West Field on Roosevelt Road in St. Charles. Entries go to Roy Jones Dog Shows (260) 925-0525, P.O. Box 828, Auburn, IN 46706. If you didn't receive a premium list in time contact the show superintendent's office or call Peggy at (630) 897-6277 for entry fees. This year there will be cash in place of trophies. Also, there will be generous tenting and ample parking.
• Basset Hound Club of America has also set Aug. 6 as entry deadline for the Aug. 23 evening Specialty at Kane County Fairgrounds. Entry fee is $23 plus $15 for second entry of the same dog. Send entries and fees to Sarah Lafranzo, Show Secretary, 299 Bluegrass Pkwy., Oswego, IL 60543-7764.
Therapy Program: Northwest Community Hospital now has a pet therapy program. For this animal-assisted program, which plays an important part with hospital patients of all ages, go to nch.org/animalassist or call (847) 618-7968.
Shows: There are no local shows listed for the next week or more; however, there is a multitude of them July 25, 26 and 27 at Waukesha County Expo Center, 1000 Northview Road, Waukesha, Wisc. Sorry, but there are just too many to list.
Fundraiser: The Windy City HOG Chapter 2053 and The Ladies of Harley's annual Poker Run is July 19, starting at 10 a.m. at 2929 Patriot Blvd., at The Glen in Glenview, for registration. Proceeds will benefit Orphans of the Storm animal shelter.
