Briefs: District 26 OKs contract
The Cary District 26 school board Monday approved a three-year contract extension with the district's teachers. The extension gives most teachers a 4.5 percent pay raise each year. Teachers with at least 20 years of experience will get a 2.3 percent annual pay raise. The benefits granted in the previous contract stayed the same, board members said. The Cary Educational Association, the district's teachers union, has approved the contract. The deal will not take effect until the board president and secretary sign the document. They are awaiting final approval from the district's legal counsel. The parties began negotiating in May. The new contract expires in 2011.
