Minooka mayor sentenced in domestic battery case

MINOOKA -- The mayor of the village of Minooka has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of domestic battery and has been sentenced to one year of court supervision and given a $300 fine.

Officials say 33-year-old Jason Briscoe also has to attend a 26-week domestic violence counseling program and anger-management training. Briscoe's wife, Melissa Briscoe, accused him of grabbing her arm. The couple are divorcing.

Minooka is a village 14 miles southwest of Joliet with a population of about 7,600.
