Executives of Buffalo Grove company sent to prison

Two executives of a Buffalo Grove company Monday received prison sentences for their roles in a scheme to convince investors to buy into their company, Efoora.

David Grosky of Highland Park and Melvin Dokich of Forestview were sentenced to 14 and seven years in prison, respectively, said Randy Samborn, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's office.

Grosky, the company's CEO, pleaded guilty last year to two counts of fraud on Aug. 27. Dokich, an account executive at the company, pleaded guilty the same day to one count of fraud and dozens of counts of structuring financial transactions to evade federal reporting requirements.

A third defendant, Craig Rappin of Long Grove, will be sentenced Wednesday in federal court. He was the company's chief operating officer and pleaded guilty to one count of fraud.

The company, Efoora, told investors it was on the verge of marketing rapid biological tests to detect HIV and to monitor glucose levels, when in fact that was not true, according to Grosky's plea agreement.
