Why not 'Click it' on school buses?

I've read in this fine publication and have first-hand witnessed that the local police in our area are stepping up the patrols and making checkpoints in the area of drivers who still refuse to use their seat belts.

I appreciate their efforts in writing tickets for those who refuse to comply with a mandated law.

It appears the state of Illinois is doing a fine job in promoting its "Click It Or Ticket" promotion as seat belt use is on the rise nationwide and here in Illinois.

You see the ads and the public service messages but what astounds me is the fact that there is still no state law here in Illinois mandating the use of seat belts for those who ride in school busses.

Yes, that is true. We as drivers are required to 'buckle up" but our children who ride to and from school and to other activities requiring a school bus do not.

Tell me, am I missing something that appears on the surface to be terribly wrong?
