Thorrington's goal lifts Fire over Toronto FC

BRIDGEVIEW -- John Thorrington blocked a clearing pass in front of Toronto goalkeeper Greg Sutton and scored in stoppage time to give the Chicago Fire a 2-1 victory over Toronto FC on Saturday night.

Chris Rolfe gave Chicago a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute, but Toronto tied it in the 59th minute on a goal by second half substitute Abdus Ibrahim.

The Fire (7-5-3) ended a five-game winless streak. Toronto (6-6-3) is 1-6 on the road this season.

Rolfe's goal, his fourth of the season, came on an assist by Chad Barrett. Catching the ball about 30 yards out to the left of goal, Rolfe put a shot into the upper right corner above Sutton.

Toronto played the game without leading goal scorer Danny Dichio, who missed the game due to headaches.
