Praise for gifted young singers
A few weeks ago on a warm Saturday evening my family and I had the great pleasure of attending a concert of Anima: Young Singers of Greater Chicago (formerly the Glen Ellyn Children's Chorus).
While their name has changed, the music that these singers produce is, as usual, nothing short of spectacular!
With songs that range from classical to jazz to rock, the depth and breadth of musical knowledge and experience is vast.
A mixture of music and movement, with accompaniment by a spectacular pianist, the concert entertained my entire family, including our six and eight year olds (who are a tough audience!)
The word Anima means breath, life, soul and spirit. This group of musicians shows us that being young does not diminish experience, and that there is hope and beauty in the voices of our future.
Anima reinforces the idea that today's young artists are the breath, life, soul and spirit of our future.
Congratulations to the Anima and their amazing director, Emily Ellsworth. We can't wait to see what you have in store for us next!
