Power outage shuts down McHenry County government offices
Most McHenry County governmental offices will close at 2 p.m. today because of an electrical outage that knocked out power at both the county government center and administration building in Woodstock.
Plans were to keep county court proceedings on schedule using backup generators, but all county offices unrelated to courts and law enforcement would shut down.
The outage occurred about 11 a.m. today when a transformer near Route 47 in Woodstock failed, reportedly when struck by a fallen tree.
