No injuries in western Aurora house fire
Firefighters from Aurora Township and seven other neighboring fire departments spent Friday morning battling a house fire in western Aurora.
At least three people and one pet dog escaped uninjured from a home at 1224 Bangs St. shortly after 8:20 a.m., said David Kunkel, battalion chief for the Aurora Township Fire Protection District.
The fire began in an attached garage and quickly spread to a bedroom on the second floor of the home, Kunkel said.
Damage estimates weren't immediately available, but two cars and two motorcycles in the garage were destroyed, and at least two neighboring homes suffered exterior damage from the blaze, Kunkel said.
Crews were at the scene of the fire until shortly after 2 p.m.
Fire investigators from Aurora Township and the Kane County Arson Task Force are still trying to determine the cause of the blaze, Kunkel said.
In addition to Aurora Township, fire crews from Sugar Grove, Plainfield, Aurora, St. Charles, Oswego, Montgomery and Fermilab were at the scene.
