Briefs: Body identified
An autopsy conducted Friday determined the death of a man found outside a business in Geneva Thursday was "cardiac-related," according to the Kane County Coroner's office. The body of Dale W. Johnson, 46, of Batavia, was found by an employee of Public Storage, 2324 Gary Lane, at 5:30 p.m. Toxicology samples have been sent to a forensic laboratory for analysis.
Homeowner assistance:
A free workshop about public services available to Kane County homeowners is planned for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the Dundee Township Park District Senior Center, 665 Barrington Ave., Carpentersville. The workshop is one of four being sponsored through Kane County's "Help for Homeowners" campaign. Participants can learn about emergency home repair assistance, property tax exemptions, foreclosure prevention counseling and related services. St. Charles golf tournaments:
The St. Charles Little Guys and Gals Golf Tournament is scheduled Tuesday and Wednesday at Pottawatomie Park, 8 North Ave. The competition is for kids 11 and younger who have a St. Charles mailing address, live in the St. Charles Park District or have a season park pass. The entry fee is $24. The Junior Golf Tournament is Wednesday and Thursday and is open to kids 12 to 17. It will also be played at Pottawatomie, and the entry fee is $26. Hear the Fabyan Stories
A trained guide uses historic photographs and oral histories to recreate the sights and sounds of Riverbank Estates, the home of George and Nelle Fabyan from 1905 to 1939, during a history walk at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Fabyan Forest Preserve, Route 31 north of Fabyan Parkway, Geneva. Cost is $3. Meet in the circle driveway north of the Fabyan Villa. George Fabyan, a friend of Marshall Field, covered his estate with exotic features from around the world, including a Japanese garden, a Dutch windmill, Egyptian sculptures, and a Greco-Roman swimming pool; participated in many scientific experiments; and entertained a variety of intriguing and prestigious guests. Mourning a pet?
