The Democrats and deficit spending

The Democrats controlled the House of Representatives from 1956 until 1994 when the Republicans under Gingrich took control and there were deficits every year.

The budget proposed by then President Clinton in 1995 was $300 billion in the red.

It's only because of Gingrich that the surplus was created.

Not to belabor a point, but presidents, both Democrat and Republican, could have stopped this hemorrhaging of funds with a well timed veto but most chose not to.

But both parties are responsible or more likely irresponsible.
