It's no big deal to make AFL playoffs
Ads for the Chicago Rush boast the team's history of making it to the playoffs.
The fact of the matter is that a dozen teams in the Arena Football League go to the playoffs, and with the number of teams now up to 17, this means that 70.6 percent of the teams are in the post season.
The Rush had a great team this year, but they were just beaten in the playoffs by a team with a regular season record of 6-10, and when the Rush won the championship, their regular season record had been 7-9.
All pro sports have now adopted playoff mania, so that there could be more contenders and more tickets sold, and Arena Football is the worst example of this.
What's the purpose of the regular season other than to decide who doesn't make it to the playoffs?
