Man charged in '91 slaying of Chicago jeweler
Prosecutors in Cook County have charged a 38-year-old man with first-degree murder in the 1991 stabbing death of an elderly jeweler on Chicago's North Side.
Cook County State's Attorney spokeswoman Tandra Simonton says Michael Gonzalez is scheduled to appear at an afternoon court hearing in the case.
Gonzalez's arrest is in connection with the murder of 94-year-old Harry Levinson, who owned Levinson's Jewelers in Chicago.
Levinson was stabbed to death during a break-in at his home in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood. His 84-year-old wife was beaten and forced to hand over cash, but she survived the attack.
