Fresh produce in Huntley

Saturdays in Huntley mean fresh produce and delicious treats in the village's historic downtown. The farmer's market runs 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays through Sept. 27. You can buy produce, plants, pet food and desserts from at least eight local vendors on Coral Street. The Harmony Road Brass will perform at the market at 10 a.m. Saturday, and the Prairie Voices will perform at 10:30 a.m. on July 26. Donate blood in Elgin

Heartland Blood Centers and Elgin will host a blood drive from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. July 24 at the Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Wa, Elgin. Organizers hope at least 100 people to come out and donate. People donating blood will receive a free guest pass for Wing Park Family Aquatic Center while supplies last. Car wash for troops

A car wash benefiting Operation Support Our Troops will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Hanover Township, 250 S. Route 59, Bartlett. The organization sends care packages to troops abroad. Call the township clerk's office at (630) 837-0301.

Violence counseling offered

The Community Crisis Center in Elgin provides domestic violence counseling services for northwestern Kane County. Counseling is provided by a licensed professional counselor and is available to adult and adolescent females. All of our domestic violence services are at no cost to victims. Experts say one in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime and an estimated 1.3 million women are victims of physical assault by an intimate partner each year.
