Driver arrested for DUI after hitting Arlington Heights house

A Barrington man had a blood-alcohol level of more than double the legal limit when driving his car into a house at the corner of Euclid and Belmont avenues Thursday night, police officials said.

Sean A. Sears, 22, was fishtailing while heading eastbound on Euclid at about 11:30 p.m. before jumping the curb at the intersection and hitting a tree, said Arlington Heights Police Cmdr. Phil Lorenz.

The car bounced off the tree, fishtailed again, hit the side of the house, then flipped onto its side.

No one was injured in the house due to the accident, Lorenz said. Sears refused treatment at the scene.

Sears blood-alcohol content measured .207 - more than double the legal threshold of .08, Lorenz said.

He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, Lorenz said, as well as failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, speeding and improper lane usage.
