A good race, but it is a better cause

First I would like to congratulate Amy Boerema on her training and completion of the Naperville Triathlon.

Her accomplishment is terrific. I enjoyed reading about her struggles with the training and the actual race day recollections.

I was a spectator at this race. My children also participated in the race.

One thing I was personally looking for in her articles was the reason for the triathlon.

It supports ovarian cancer research. The true winners are the women who are running their battle with ovarian cancer.

Some win their race and unfortunately some do not make it to their finish line.

The need for women to be educated about this horrible disease is tremendous. We need to educate all women about this silent killer. This disease can strike any women, young and old.

I guess the reason I am writing this very personal letter is because I am a two-time survivor of this horrible disease.

So Amy, congratulations on your accomplishment but I sure wished you would have mentioned the reason for the race.
