Rockies dampen Brewers' Sabathia celebration

Colorado Rockies starter Ubaldo Jimenez baffled the Brewers in a 4-3 victory on Monday, putting a damper on what had been a daylong welcome-to-Milwaukee party for CC Sabathia.

Jimenez (4-8) gave up only 3 hits in 7 innings, and has won three of his last four starts after beginning the season 1-7.

All-star Matt Holliday hit his 14th home run - and fourth in four games - for Colorado, which has won six of its last seven.

After warmly welcoming Sabathia, who is scheduled to make his Milwaukee debut tonight after he was acquired in a trade with Cleveland on Monday, the Brewers didn't seem particularly focused on the field until they put together a late rally off reliever Taylor Buchholz.

Pirates 10, Astros 7: Nate McLouth and Ryan Doumit each hit home runs to lead 10 players with at last 1 hit in a Pittsburgh win over visiting Houston to snap a three-game losing streak. Adam LaRoche reached base four times, scored twice and drove in a run as eight Pirates had RBI.

Mets 10, Phillies 9: Pedro Martinez pitched into the sixth inning then watched New York give back nearly all of a 9-run lead before holding on to beat host Philadelphia.

David Wright homered and drove in 4 runs as the Mets built a 10-1 lead going into the bottom of the sixth.

Royals 7, Rays 4 (10): Tampa Bay's seven-game winning streak ended when John Buck and Mike Aviles hit 10th-inning homers to lead visiting Kansas City to victory.

Carlos Pena hit a tying solo homer off all-star closer Joakim Soria in the ninth, but it wasn't enough for the first-place Rays, who finished a seven-game homestand at 6-1.

Billy Butler reached second to start the 10th on a throwing error by Rays third baseman Evan Longoria. Pinch runner Esteban German advanced to third on Mark Teahen's grounder. After Dan Wheeler (2-4) intentionally walked Ross Gload, Buck lined his fourth homer of the season down the left-field line. Two pitches later, Aviles homered to make it 7-3.

Red Sox 1, Twins 0: Manny Ramirez hit a run-scoring single in the eighth to lift host Boston in a pitching duel between Daisuke Matsuzaka and Minnesota's Scott Baker.

Dustin Pedroia extended his career-high hitting streak to 15 games with a double on the first pitch from reliever Brian Bass (3-3) in the eighth.

The Red Sox, coming off a 3-10 road trip that dropped them into second place in the AL East behind Tampa Bay, won for the 23rd time in 29 games in Fenway Park.

The Twins lost just their fourth in 22 games, ending a five-game winning streak.

Angels 9, Rangers 6: Torii Hunter homered twice, the first capping a 6-run second inning, and Los Angeles held on to beat host Texas.

Vladimir Guerrero, Jeff Mathis and Hunter homered in a big second inning that gave the Angels an 8-0 lead. All three were off Rangers starter Luis Mendoza (1-3), who allowed eight runs in 1 innings.

Hunter had an RBI single in the first and homered in the seventh.

Ervin Santana (10-3) allowed 6 runs and 10 hits in 7 innings in winning for the second time in 6 starts.
