Briefs: Huntley seeks census workers

Huntley is looking for 50 residents to help conduct the village's special census this summer. Depending on the position, pay for the temporary positions ranges from $10.50 to $15.75 an hour. To find out if you meet the job requirements and apply for a position, visit www.census.gov/specialcensus or stop by village hall. Applications should be sent to Julie Baumgartner, Village of Huntley, 10987 Main St., Huntley. The assignment lasts three to five weeks. The village expects Huntley's population to be almost 23,000 after the partial census. The census will cost about $188,000, and the village expects to get an additional $817,000 in state aid. Panel seeks volunteers:

The Carpentersville Improvement Committee seeks applications from residents interested in serving on the village's newest committee. Members assist the Community Development Department with activities that promote residential and commercial property care and maintenance. The committee generally meets one night per month. Sign up for Elgin Open:

Applications are now being accepted for the Elgin Open singles and doubles tennis tournaments. The singles matches run Saturday and Sunday while the doubles tournament will be the weekend of July 19-20. Spots are open for men and women singles players, as well as men's, women's and mixed doubles teams. Separate divisions also are available for boys and girls. Non residents are welcome.
