Blue Line service cut this month

Adding to this summer's air travel woes, passengers who use the Chicago Transit Authority's Blue Line trains to get to and from O'Hare International Airport will face another inconvenience for most of July.

Beginning Tuesday, Blue Line trains will go no farther than the Rosemont stop, the last one before the airport, because of work on the tracks.

A 24-hour shuttle bus will begin running between the Rosemont station and O'Hare at 3 a.m. Tuesday. Normal train service is scheduled to resume July 28.

The work is being done as part of the CTA's plan to eliminate slow zones, where trains can only travel from 15 to 35 mph. Crews will be replacing deteriorating rails and ties, tie plates and spikes.
