Congress to blame for current oil crisis

It has been decades since the original oil embargo. Neither party has done anything to address the energy crisis we are now in over that long period of time. It is the fault of Congress that we have the high fuel prices of today. Congress has breached its contract with the American public and if their members were not immune from liability, they should be sued. So what is the answer? The answer is to drill as fast as possible, start the construction of refineries and nuclear plants to buy us time over the short term until an economical alternative to oil can be obtained. According to the present Democratic controlled Congress, that is unacceptable.

They would rather see union jobs lost in Janesville, Wis., where the GM plant will now close because it manufactured trucks and SUVs. But what do they care? I am surprised that the unions have not deserted their Democratic leaders over this continuing loss of union jobs because of energy policies.

What Democrats feel is acceptable is we should also have more fuel-efficient vehicles so we can prevent global warming, which is a fraud on society. With all due respect to that concept, how many people can just go out and buy new vehicles? Try to find someone who will just buy your SUV or truck. Dealerships are loaded with SUVs they cannot sell because of the oil crisis. Of course, when did common sense ever enter the picture with a Democrat?

In conclusion, the environmental lobbyists have gone from green to red, the color of communism. They are out to destroy American capitalism, which has permitted the smallest of the small to become the tallest of the tall. I say defeat these people in the next election. Raise your voice in anger and throw out these people with your vote. As a Jimmy Buffet song said, "Come Monday Everything Will Be All Right." Unless we vote these politicians out, that may not be the case.

Village shouldn't label car stickers

Imagine my fury when affixing my new Fox Lake village sticker the word "SENIOR" now appears as part of the design. How dare they or anyone label a vehicle sticker "SENIOR?" Are other stickers labeled with other personal data for teen drivers, ethnicity or faith?

What's next? Will specific handicaps, criminal background, gender preference etc. appear on our car windows?

I pride myself in my appearance and being employed at two jobs and working six days a week as well as taking care of my home and socializing with friends. Some people age gracefully and accept the limitations and "labels" given to them. I do not!

Moreover this kind of signage draws attention to the fact an older person owns the vehicle and can provide public information to would-be criminals and give them facts they can use to take advantage of such persons. I have spoken to others who also highly resent such discrimination including my lawyer and will be sending this letter to local newspapers to bring this faux pas to the public's attention.

Are there any other villages or townships involved in this discriminatory practice?
