Waukegan woman killed in stabbing

A 31-year-old Waukegan woman is dead after she was stabbed and then walked into the lobby of a Lincolnshire hotel and collapsed Saturday afternoon.

Lake County Coroner Richard Keller said the victim, Adelina Weber, from Waukegan, died from a single stab wound to the upper chest at about 3 p.m. Saturday at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

At about 2:11 p.m. Saturday, Weber walked into the Lincolnshire Springhill Suites Hotel at 300 Marriott Drive, and collapsed, police said. She apparently walked across the street from a restaurant where she may have worked.

Police said they are treating the death as a homicide, and are investigating with help of the Lake County Major Crime Task Force. The investigation remains open and police are following several leads in the case.

Authorities said a person of interest, someone who may have known Weber, has been identified in the stabbing.

Hotel officials would only say the incident did not involve any hotel guests or employees.

Police said the crime was an isolated incident and guests were allowed to remain in the hotel.
